TunHuang Classic Dance Group Summary

          TunHuang Classic Dance Group was founded in 1982.

          In 1991, TunHuang Group Dance has been firstly performed on Taipei Traditional Culture and Art Festival in an introduction of TunHuang Cave Paintings. It is the only professional dance group to initiate and inheriting TunHuang culture and arts in Taiwan.

          TunHuang Cave has been identified as a great treasure in the world, of which architecture, drawings, sculpture and arts being proved valuable in Chinese history. TunHuang Classic Dance Group is responsible for promotion and development TunHuang culture and art in this sense.

          Ms. Chen Chung Hwa, founder and director of TunHuang Classic Dance Group, studied a great deal of TunHuang culture and art during her travelling TunHuang in the past many years, particularly at Mo Kao Cave. She also visited India in comparison of TunHuang and Indian dances. The book "TunHuang Dance and Art" was published later for this purpose.

          National Science Committee had one test on Chen's breath and magnetic field upon her dancing and found TunHuang Dance an excellent exercise on human body for health. As a result of this discovery, Chen has initiated TunHuang Revival Dance and Exercise to popularize TunHuang arts in public.
